Monday 8th October

The group decided to set up camp, taking advantage of the orc bunk room that was inside the larger of the two wooden buildings. Kevin nonchalantly picked up one of the bunks and threw it across the room to block one of the two entrances and then climbed in to bed.

Kronos, being a dragon born and needing less rest than the others, decided to take the first watch. During the night, Kronos became aware of a noise, which also woke some of the others down in the bunk room. Looking out in to camp, they saw a small cluster of Orcs running out of the cave and then out of the camp. They seemed to be absolutely terrified of something.

Kevin was not amused at the interruption to his sleep. He shoved another bunk behind the second entrance, with a lot more effort this time, and then went back to bed. Irina went upstairs to be sure Kronos was OK. They had a quick conversation, and Irina spotted what appeared to be a camp fire some way off in the distance. She estimated that this was also the rough direction in which the orcs had fled.

The rest of the night passed without incident. Norris awoke feeling fully refreshed, and Kevin had a desire for bacon. Their pack rations had to do. Fed, and ready for the day; Kevin, Norris, Irina and Kronos made their way down the passageway beyond the cave entrance. Everyone else decided to stay in the camp in case another load of orcs turned up!

Entering the cave, it winded downwards for about a minute before arriving at a more finely crafted area, reaching some steps that led into a room. Large parts of the room ahead were dusty, and the party noticed that there was a clearer pathway where the orcs must have been walking. On closer inspection, Norris noticed that there was some kind of trapdoor in the centre of the room and told everyone to avoid it - no more trap pit nonsense for this this lot!

The room had two corridors leading out from it - one which was covered in dust, evidently not used for some time, and another which was much more used. After a short moment of deliberation, they decided to head down the pathway which was covered in dust. Moving carefully around the centre of the room to avoid the trap, they made their way down the dark, dank corridor. The corridor ended in a room with a few coffins in and a couple of statues. Kevin decided it would be a good idea to smash the corner of one of the coffins in.

This act of desecration awoke some of the dead souls entombed within the coffins. A sinuous arm reached out through the hole Kevin had made and started to try to lift the lid off its own resting place, whilst a dark shadowy form rose from another and began to menace Kronos, A short battle ensued, and Norris once again used his holy powers to obliterate the shadowy creature. Another undead creature burst out from one of the statues and threatened Irina, but the creatures were quickly dealt with and sent to their eternal rest.

Dusting themselves down, they made their way back down the dusty corridor, and headed down the only other way that was open to them. "Who's idea was it to go down there anyway?" asked Norris, with a mischievous grin on his face. Not far down the corridor there were some doors. On the left, there were two great big slabs of stone blocking two doorways. They appeared to have been there and untouched for a very long time. On the right, was a single door, which bore some strange carvings upon it, looking snake like in nature. This door had evidence of being tampered with, possibly by someone using a crowbar or some other such crude tool. There were also a number of black burn marks around these areas. Norris decided to cast a spell at the door. The door did not like this and reflected a good amount of the magic back at Norris, whilst itself appearing to remain unharmed.

Stumped as to how to progress, the group considered their options. Then, a number of the group heard what sounded like animal noises from further down the corridor. Irina guess that it was a Wolf of some kind, though Kronos was adamant that it was just a dog barking. They headed off down the corridor, turning a corner. Another corridor led on, with a big door to the right at the end. The group moved up and looked in to the doorway. Two wolves growled their discontent as the party looked around the corner. The room seemed to be some kind of place of worship, which benches leading up to an altar at the other end. A shamanic looking orc, who appeared to be having a close look at the wall, turned at the sound of the wolves growling.

And that, is where the session ended...
